Recreation of an area from the game "HARMONY : The Fall of Reverie"
Programs used:
This scene draws its inspiration from the background art crafted by Michel Donze during his involvement in the creation of the game "HARMONY: The Fall of Reverie." The image on the right served as my reference point for crafting this scene. You can find Michel's original artwork on his ArtStation by clicking the button below.
I really enjoyed the process of replicating the intricate patterns found on the central platform. To optimize the scene's performance and maintain lower polygon counts, I decided to bake the textures. Additionally, I employed a separate emissive material within Unreal Engine to bring the glowing sigils to life.
Midway into the polishing phase I noticed how many different variations and patterns I could run through the platform's sigils. I decided to experiment with it a bit before ultimately settling on the rainbow appearance. The video on the left shows some of the patterns I made while experimenting.
Stats about the scene pieces:
• Central Platform (Altar): 1,670 polys
• Individual Pillars: 159 polys
• All pieces combined: 2,724 polys
The sigil overlay on the left was made in photoshop. I had a top view of the platform and used my drawing pad to draw in the patterns based off of the reference that I had opened on my other screen.
I used the mask on the left to overlay the image above using texcoord nodes and panner nodes to achieve an interesting emissive effect on the platform.
